SPECIFICATIONS 2.Description. Flight Deck Helmet (Cranial) is a protective head covering with impact protection features and designed to accommodate a headset for communication capabilities and/ or a sound aural protector. 3.Purpose. To provide head and hearing protection to the Flight Deck Crew during flying and maintenance operations. 4.Fundamental Features. The Flight Deck Helmet (Cranial) should have the following fundamental features: - (a)Be impact resistant (both vertical and side impact protection) and provide protection against head/ skull injury and heat/ flash burns, (b)Should be light weight and comfortable to wear for prolonged duration. (c)Provide Electrical shock protection. (d)Integrated anti - glare visors/ goggles (for use by day, night and low light conditions) to provide sun, wind and dust protection. (e)Engineered to integrate a wireless multi-channel V/ UHF TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio Technology) based communication equipment with a noise cancelling microphone (with both voice activated and Press to Talk (PTT) facility). (f)Fire protection and NBC clothing compatible. (g)Provide double hearing protection. (h)Ear cup cushion and foam to be of lasting quality. (j)Should be of modular design so as to allow fast and cost effective replacement of parts. 5.Additional Features. The Flight Deck Helmet (Crania!) should have the following additional features: - (a)Colours to indicate wearer function, (b) Pre applied reflective tapes to discern the aspect (front or rear) of individuals on the flight deck during night flying. 6.Standard. The Flight Deck Helmet (Cranial) should conform to Mil standards Mil-H- 81735B (AS) - Helmet - Flight Deck Crewmen in addition to the requirements enumerated above.
